ACASA is the choreographic residency project that the National Center of Relevant Interest for Dance Scenario Pubblico/Compagnia Zappalà Danza has been promoting since 2015.
The primary mission is to support and guide choreographers of different generations in their creative journey, working within a contemporary context, without any geographical or stylistic limitations.
The selection process for the ACASA Call has been completed. The evaluation process was long and demanding due to the high number of applications received - 152 - and the overall quality of the proposals. The Direction
ACASA is a choreographic residency project promoted by Scenario Pubblico / Compagnia Zappalà Danza, a National Center of Significant Interest for Dance, created with the aim of supporting and accompanying the creative process of choreographers engaged with contemporary practices, without geographical or stylistic limitations. The ACASA 2026–2027 call is aimed at choreographers over 30 and offers a two-year program divided into two phases: a creative residency in 2026 dedicated to the creation of the work, and a technical residency in 2027 focused on the staging of the piece within the Catania Contemporanea / FIC Festival. Up to 6 projects will be selected.
During the residencies, Scenario Pubblico provides rehearsal spaces, technical and communication support, spaces for the presentation of works, and a reimbursement of expenses that varies according to the number of artists involved. The project aims not only to support choreographic production but also to encourage exchange with the local area through open doors, performances, meetings, and training activities.
