“Perhaps Hope Means Looking at Life Through a Choreographer’s Eyes”

Today, I am speaking to you as I would to friends. Because, in many ways, the audience that follows us—ever more devoted and affectionate—has become a true family. To be honest, it is now a little too large for us to give everyone the same attention, yet we always strive to care for your wishes, your expectations, and the way you are welcomed, hoping to bring you happiness, even if only for a moment.

Why did I say, “I am speaking to you as friends”? Because speaking about hope concerns all of us: those who already follow us, those who may one day do so, and those who will embrace the artistic proposals that others will offer in the future.

The image that best captures this idea comes from a personal experience many years ago, during my time as a “farmer.” It can be summed up in a phrase often attributed to Nelson Mandela, or to an ancient Greek proverb: “Planting trees under whose shade we will never sit.” To me, this is the highest expression of hope as a social contract.
